The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
According to the European Commission, the 23 million SMEs in the EU represent 99% of businesses, and are a key driver for economic growth, innovation, employment and social integration. Every European political agenda includes the promotion of successful entrepreneurship and improvement of the business environment for SMEs, to allow them to realise their full potential in today’s global economy.
Programmes and services to promote and support entrepreneurship and brand-new companies have been set up all around Europe. However, the 5th year survival rate of SMEs in the EU is under 50% and the European Commission recognizes that small businesses need more tailor-made support and more targeted services. [+]
